Angina (Angina Pectoris)

Angina is chest pain or discomfort that occurs when the heart muscle doesn't receive enough blood and oxygen. It's a symptom of coronary artery disease, which is caused by a buildup of plaque in the arteries that lessens the supply of blood to the heart.

Symptoms


  • A squeezing, crushing, or burning pain in the chest, usually behind the breastbone
  • Pain in the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, jaw, or ear lobes
  • Accompanied by shortness of breath
  • Weakness, fatigue, or dizziness
  • Nausea, vomiting, or sweating
  • Palpitations
